Estimates, not advice
Every calculator and guide on USFirst produces estimates based on published rates and intentionally simplified rules. They are educational tools — not tax advice, legal advice, investment advice, or an offer of any financial product.
Known simplifications
- Tax credits (Child Tax Credit, EITC, education credits) are generally not modeled.
- Local income taxes (city/county), state disability insurance, and niche payroll levies are noted but not calculated.
- Paycheck results use an annual-average method, not IRS Publication 15-T withholding tables — your employer's per-check withholding will differ.
- Itemized deductions, AMT, NIIT, and multi-state situations are outside the scope of these tools.
Data currency
Figures target tax year 2026 and are compiled from IRS publications, the Social Security Administration, and state revenue departments. Legislatures change rates mid-year; despite annual review, some figures may lag official sources.
Your responsibility
Before making decisions with real money — filing taxes, taking a loan, changing withholding, moving states — confirm the numbers with official sources (irs.gov, ssa.gov, your state's revenue department) or a licensed professional (CPA, EA, CFP, or attorney).
